Tuesday Link Roundup

Now that I have a decent computer again, I've found my self actually browsing around and reading blogs online again. Crazy, right? Here are some of the things that have caught my attention the past few weeks.

DIY Cloud Sweater - So cute! I don't know if I'd make a cloud one, but it gives me lots of cute ideas for tons of tiny little hearts at the bottom of a shirt.

ABC Abs Workout - Cassey's newest video up on Blogilates. I haven't tried it yet, but as I was driving home last night, I told myself I wanted to make a playlist of all of her ab videos. And ta-da, here is a brand new one! I'll let you know how it goes.

Exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS - Secret is, I'm not so into the blue of my 3DS XL, especially when they released a pink one for the US after I bought mine. OH WELL, big problems, right? This New Leaf 3DS, though, is another cute one that I wouldn't mind having. I'm so excited for the game!

10 Magical Indoor Plants to Attract Love, Joy, and Prosperity - Gala's blog is always bookmarked for me, as I'm sure it is for plenty of people around the world. She's just so good at reading my mind - kind of like Cassey from Blogilates! Yesterday I stopped at a greenhouse and picked up some rosemary, thyme, and moss with the plan to make some little indoor plant terrariums. I saw today that she just posted about all these plants to have inside, all with their magical properties! PERFECT.

Terrarium Love - Speaking of, here is my newest Pinterest board, all full of terrarium lovelies.

DIY Gift: Terrarium Kit - What a great idea! And also a helpful site for beginners.

Cat Face Tights - My newest obsession online: trying to find where I can buy these. The shop that this links to is on vacation. I gotta have them.

Den-M-Nit Pineapple Skirt - A free pattern for a beautiful crochet skirt that I'd love to make for dance.

Boho Chic Dreamcatcher - An awesome use for all the little crochet doilies I like making, but am never sure with where to put them. Little mini ones would be so cute.

And finally, my current favorite song, OF COURSE.

What I Wore: With Bunny Ears on Top

A few months back, I was walking around Michael's and they had JUST put their Easter goodies out. I spotted these pink, sequined bunny ear clips and I knew I had to have them. Finally, Easter rolled around and I pulled these little guys out of their package and attempted to stick them on my head. Ear shaped clips are a little tough - the way they sat all day...? I kind of looked like a goat. But that's cute, too, right?

Our store was open, but as you would guess - a retail store by a closed mall on Easter Sunday was not all that busy. That gave Alisha and I plenty of time to take selfies in the mirror, though. How cute is Alisha?!

We also spent some time peeking out the window, waiting for shoppers and trying to figure out if Barnes and Noble was open. (It was. And it was busy?!)

I finally got to leave work around three and headed over to my parents for grilled Easter dinner! Steak, asparagus, and I brought the pasta salad! :9

My beautiful sisters and I! Looks like we planned our outfits. Cuuuute! My dress is CALS brand, tights are Forever 21, boots are SODA, and my chambray is MINE brand. Ears are Michael's, and the scarf is from heartbreaker.

Ramen, Frosty Lakes, & Taro Boba

Earlier in the month, Markie & I took a little trip to the cities for no reason, really. When we both have the day off, we get a little cabin fever-y and usually just go screw around the lower metro.

First things first, we had to get yummies at our favorite restaurant in the Mall of America - MASU! Delicious pork belly ramen complete with a Kirin (me) and PBR (Mark). The owner is so nice - he recognized me from Twitter the first time we came in! I'd love to visit their Minneapolis location, since I think they have more adventurous items on the menu, like our favorite chicken liver skewer robata.

We stumbled out, ramen-drunk, and I wanted to get some bubble tea at the store I've never been. I've had boba from the Tea Garden at the Mall of America before and loved it, but wanted to try Chatime. I got the taro flavored milk tea and I liked it! However, I was craving Royal Milk Tea & they did not have that. Bum!

We left the mega mall and made our way over to Southdale in Edina, the first indoor mall in the US! They just remodeled their food court area, and I like the lighting fixtures in there! THey're kind of giving the inside a face job and have a lot of fun stores in there - Sephora, H&M, Madewell, Francescas..

I took advantage of the new full length mirrors in the Southdale bathrooms and snapped this outfit selfie. This dress is from delia*s (I love writing it like that) and it is old! And XS?! It's so cute and I'm glad I dug it out of the back of my closet that day, because it was really comfy, too. Like a thicker rayon material - silky enough to be cute, flowy, and comfy, but thick enough to not be clingy. Perf.

Before we headed home, we swung over to the Centennial Lakes park by Southdale and took a walk around half of the lakes. This picture makes it look FREEZING, but this was early April and maybe .. in the 40s? I was fine with a thick hoodie & scarf, but I was also glad we only took half a walk around. This place is so cute in the summer - there are gondolas, a hedge maze, and croquet! I'd love to work in one of the office buildings around the park and gaze down on the cute lakes while I was bored at work at my desk..

Lady Gaga, Anika, & Me

Back on February 6th, I had an awesome day in which seeing a Lady Gaga concert was the SECOND best thing that happened to me.

After years and years (let's say 8+) of chatting, texting, calling, emailing, and building forts together via AIM, my glorious online-BFF Anika and I finally met face to face. At a Lady Gaga concert. Naturally.

Anika was in town for business for only a few days and we knew we had to meet up no matter what. That no matter what turned out to be a Gaga concert! I had tickets already to go with my baby sister, Ellen, and through some quick Ticketmaster work, Anika secured herself a ticket, too. The truest YOLO.

Bear in mind, we only knew this was going to happen less than a week before the concert! I barely had any time to process that I was going to meet up with Anika for the first time AND see Lady Gaga at the Born This Way Ball. What a life, right? So, Ellen, our friend, Adri, and I made our way to St. Paul after getting ready for the concert.

My outfit! Dress, bag, and tights are Forever 21. Ruffle socks are from a shop in Japan. Boots are SODA brand. Headband is from eBay. My vision was ice queen. My lovely friend Emily bleached and dyed my hair all frigid white the week before, which was awesome, minus the part when my scalp was a boiled ham.

Ellie and me on the left, what a beautiful sister! And on the right is Adri, of MeowCowKitty, and me showing our teeth. We got to the concert, ran inside where it was warm, and waited for our friends! After a little while, I got the call - Anika was there! We found each other and it was like seeing my good friend, not like meeting someone in person for the first time. We hugged and giggled, got some drinks, and all of us - Anika, Ellen, Adri, her friend Amy, and me all went to find a spot. Anika had different seats then us, and so did Adri and Amy - BUT, by the loving power of Lady Gaga, we found a row and worked our little magic to sit next to each other for the entire concert. Maaagic.

This is Anika and me experiencing the magic of Lady Gaga. Can you tell?

Hours of dancing and singing later, the concert was over and we had to part ways. A few days (maybe!) later, Lady Gaga had to postpone future tour dates because of an injury, so we really lucked out in getting to go. The concert itself was pretty amazing, of course. It was my second time seeing her and it was just as much fun as the first - her sets and costumes are always amazing. My favorite songs were Highway Unicorn and SCHEISSE.

My baby Ellen and me at the concert, thanks to Anika's Instax - I want one!

I was so happy to spend such a fun night with my sissy, and I was soo happy to get a chance to meet my lovely Anika. I hope to see her soon again!

There are some days when you spend hours crawling through Ravelry trying to find the one actual project that you just actually want to do. A bag? Another scarf? Mitts? Usually I don't know WHAT I want to make, but I figure that Ravelry will show me the way.

And then there are some days Ravelry shows me nothing and I just pick up my hook and see what happens.

crochet white bunny

I pulled out my sweetest pinks and creams and bunny browns of Vanna's Choice I had lying in my stash and whipped together a sweet little baby rabbit. She's not quite amigurumi, but she has a little depth to her. I made two discs for her head and stuffed it a little before sewing it together.

Little bunny assembly line. I also feel like I go faster when I make all the parts at the same time - this is what I do for granny squares, too. All the heads, then all the ears, and then sew all the faces...

pink crochet bunny

I made a pink one, too! I like her cute little cream sleepy eyes.

I ended up making five or six of the bunnies, some a third of this size. Right now they're all together in a little bag, I don't know what to do with them! My thoughts:
  • Sew them on top of fingerless mitts
  • Attach the ears to a chain for a rabbit necklace
  • Make more and create a bunting of bunnies for above my kitchen sink
  • Glue to a headband
  • Attach a magnet or pin on the back
All in all, I'm proud of my little pattern creation. What would you do with these bunnies?

Breaking My Radio Silence

What have I been up to in the past few months since I blogged? Well, a lot. A lot of good and a lot of not so good - I've definitely gone through some tough times recently (two funerals, one being my grandmother), but I've had some pretty great times, too (new wedding dressie and wedding diet success!). It's nice to take a step back and take a breather, but it's more than nice to come back to blogging. I don't want to recap all that's been happening, but I'll let you in on some more recent things that I've been up to.

A new laptop! I was handed this lovely computer down and it is sure a lot bigger than my last little netbook thing. The other computer was nice, but it was so small that it didn't even have a CD drive! This is brand new, big and pretty, and I'll definitely put it to good use blogging (and watching Game of Thrones).

Comfies! If you weren't already aware, the midwest hasn't caught onto this "spring" season this year. As I type, I'm watching heavy snow come down at the farm as the start of another "4-8 inches over night." At the end of April. Soo - if mother nature is keeping the cold weather going, I'll keep the comfy activities coming. Mollie Makes, my favorite magazine lately, and a new one by the same creators - The Simple Things. I really like that new one, but it's kind of a tease, because all the articles have to do with spring time. Blueberry tea and my latest obsession, lavender and lemon scented candles.

New game new game new game!! Nothing like finishing one Japanese dungeon crawler (Etrian Odyssey IV) and starting a new one. Soul Hackers will be the first official SMT game that I've played. Actually, I gotta get moving - I want to start playing as soon as I'm done with this entry.

Some Soul Hackers genius. Humor in the 90s applicable to today as well.

And lastly, my contribution to the cyber punk atmosphere in Soul Hackers: acid washed shorts. Because why not.

Now, I'm going to go pour another mug of coffee (with the peppermint mocha creamer Markie picked out "since it feels like Christmas out there, we might as well play along"), fill a bowl with popcorn, and play some SMT. (NEXT TIME ON MEMADONNA: I detail why I'll marry Tyrion Lannister the Imp after only watching five episodes of Game of Thrones, I write a love letter to Cassey Ho of Blogilates for kicking my butt into shape, and I also write a love letter to Lush sea salt spray.)

Cute Nail Stickers

Hey everyone! My life has been crazy up and down the past few months, but hopefully things will be settling down here in a little bit. I want to get back into blogging at MeMaDonna.com as soon as possible. I miss it! In the meantime, here is a cute post that I saw that I'm drooling over.

That cat nail is killing me. I need to make my own stickers - and I think I need them to have corndogs on them.
