FINISHED PROJECT: Totoro Coffee Clutch

I definitely had a Totoro-themed Saturday and Sunday. My big project of the weekend is yet to be seen on the blog (it was a present for my favorite 2 year old), but I was so cute-d out, that I had to create something Totoro-y for myself. However, it was like 11 pm on Sunday night and I had been crocheting since Saturday afternoon, sooo - coffee clutch! Always a quick pattern.

I used all Vanna's Choice in Lion Brand yarn and an I hook. For the body of the clutch itself, I used the base from Twinkie Chan's Grumpy Octopus Coffee Cup Cozy pattern. After that I just made it up as I went!

The tummy is just one big, long white chain that I sewed onto the clutch. The eyes are a little ring of single crochets and then the black knotted a few times sewn on. He fits so perfectly on my cup. I want more more more Totoro things! What next .. a little bag, maybe?

PS - Don't forget to sign up for my giveaway! You have until this Saturday to enter!

    1. Anonymous is right below!

BODY: I used Twinkie Chan's pattern, which I linked in the entry.
EYES: I think I did 6 sc in the first chain of a ch2 strand. The pupils were just a few knots in the black yarn, sewn onto the white.
BELLY: I made a super long chain and sewed it onto the body in the half oval shape.
EARS: I thiiink I did a few rows of 4sc across and ended with 1 row of 2 sc2tog.
The rest was just embroidered on!

  2. Monica, looks like she just used that basic pattern (link above) and then 'made it up' as she went along. The mouth area seems to be slip stitch in surface crochet going around in an oval with embellishments added and circles for eyes. :-)
